EMOTE Author: Command Master Keywords: emote Type: Command Syntax: emote <message> - displays the message to the room, with your name first. Emote displays a message to the room for role play purposes. Your name is highlighted in yellow and quoted speech is highlighted in green. You can use $c to insert your capitalized name. Example: emote jumps up on the table Would show up as: Dayrinni jumps up on the table. A message that opens with punctuation runs straight on from your name, so possessives and asides read naturally. A message that does not already end in . ? or ! gets a period. Example: emote 's eyes narrow Would show up as: Dayrinni's eyes narrow. You can insert your character's pronouns based on your sex: $e (he/she), $s (his/her), and $m (him/her). Example: emote grins and cracks $s knuckles. Would show up as (for a male character): Dayrinni grins and cracks his knuckles. Capitalized $E (he/she), $S (his/her), and $M (him/her) insert your target's pronouns instead - the nearest player or NPC you name with @ before the token. Example: emote claps @john on the back as $E grins. Would show up as (if John is male): Dayrinni claps John on the back as he grins. You can target players, NPCs, or objects using the @ prefix, which is replaced with the target's name. Example: emote looks at @john and waves at @sword Would show up as: Dayrinni looks at John and waves at an iron sword. Targets are searched in this order: players/NPCs in the room, inventory, equipment, then room objects. Punctuation after a target is kept, so you can write possessives and asides straight through. Example: emote looks at @john's red eyes, then at @sword... Would show up as: Dayrinni looks at John's red eyes, then at an iron sword... For precise targeting, use a prefix modifier: @name - searches all (player/NPC, then inventory, equipment, room) @self or @me - your own name, so a line can refer back to you @p:name - player/NPC only @i:name - inventory only (also supports slot: @i:2 for slot 2) @e:name - equipment only @r:name - room only (also supports slot: @r:3 for slot 3) See: help socials, help smote, help pose, help wmote, help mood, help think, help role play
