Dragon's Gate was originally created by Mark Jacobs and Darrin Hyrup and launched on GEnie in 1989-1990. It later moved to AOL in 1996, then to Mythic Realms, and finally ran on independent servers until 2007. The game was one of the longest-running pay-for-play online fantasy role-playing games in the world.
