Monitanians have long remained shrouded in mystery where their origins are concerned. The largest known community of this large, bi-pedal race of powerful fighting lizards lies in the Dismal Swamp, a vast expanse of morass separating the continent of Aradath’s central and southern regions.
Little else is known of their history, whether due to their communication barriers with other races or their own desire for secrecy. They are regarded as one of the bravest races in the known world, a claim echoed by the few historical records that mention them.

Temperament
Monitanians are extremely brave, built for combat, and willing to prove it. They value honor and allegiance above all else. Friendship is hard-won, but once earned it lasts for life and is typically forged on the battlefield.
They have little patience for humor, and can barely tolerate long exposure to Drag-als, Go-blin-als, or Flerians, whom they view as obnoxious and uncouth.
Tendencies
Monitanians love water, likely because their skin must remain moist to avoid drying out. Their vocal instruments prevent them from speaking Common, so they communicate with gestures, hisses, and grunts.
They often become mercenaries when the cause is just. Though their thick, scaly skin offers protection, they almost always wear the heaviest armor available.
