Pick Pocket Improvements and Muatana-al Release
Good day! Here is the update to the update. Enjoy reading the update notes for this update.
System and command updates:
- Pick Pocket now checks the applicable safe-room flags.
- NPCs now have a short-term “staring” memory of recent pick attempts.
- Pick Pocket equations were updated using newly collected data: the fumble chance was reduced substantially, the empty-purse check now occurs only after a successful pick, and the base success rate was adjusted to more closely match the data.
- A successful pick starts the combat timer to prevent immediate logout. A Pick Pocket-specific timer may be considered if testing shows that the combat timer does not work well.
- Players can now look at NPCs to see their inventory, including how much silver they are carrying.
- The damaged-item warning was removed, and item repair is no longer unlimited.
- Socials, Emotes, and Smotes received improved punctuation and target-possessive handling. For example,
emote 's eyes glow red! and emote looks at @target's face. now format with the character and target names.
- The room inspect message was removed.
- Defend/Guard now has a 100% rate and performs a range check.
Muatana-al public release:
- A publicly available version of the Muatana-al race was released.
- Players are limited to one Muatana-al per account at any given time.
- Muatana-al currently have attributes similar to Humans and, like the other races at this stage of development, do not yet have racial skills.
- After class work is completed, racial skills will begin to be added for all races. Muatana-al are planned to receive balanced versions of their racial abilities while remaining susceptible to sunlight damage and permanent death.
The one-per-account restriction required changes to account code. Several rounds of testing were completed because of the critical nature of account data. Please report any account-related issues immediately.
Changed characters are backed up nightly, backups are created automatically during copyovers, and manual backups are routinely made—generally before every update—so two update-time backups are normally available.
Thank you!
