Rune magick uses corridors and finite rune weaves

Your exact runes and spells depend on your class, path, and progression. The example below was verified with a new Generalist Rune Mage; other paths begin differently.

Read your spellbook

Prepare and cast a corridor

  1. Find the rune vendor appropriate to your path.
  2. Type SHOP LIST RUNES to see rune availability and renewal cost.
  3. Use SHOP RENEW <rune> or SHOP RENEW ALL. A rune's initial acquisition is currently free; later renewals show their cost.
  4. Use INFO RUNESPELLS and note the corridor number.
  5. Name it with MEM <alias> <corridor number>. Example: MEM ACID 1.
  6. Cast with INVOKE <alias> AT <target>. A corridor number can also be used where supported.

What casting consumes

A verified level-one Acid Touch used fatigue, consumed one Acid rune weave, imposed a short action delay, and then resolved against the target. INFO MAGICK showed the rune count fall from 100 to 99. Harmful abilities can make a target engage you, even in a practice area.

Spell costs, delays, targeting, damage, and availability are active beta balance. Check your resources before casting and do not test harmful effects on another player without consent.

Alias tools

  • MEM <alias> <corridor> names a spell corridor and makes it easy to invoke.
  • ALIAS ADD <name> <ability> creates a general ability alias.
  • ALIAS REMOVE <number> removes one; ALIAS CLEAR removes all aliases.
  • Use INFO RUNESPELLS and ALIAS LIST whenever you forget what a shortcut means.
