Skill Overview
Entry Last Update: January 15, 2026
Description: The ability lay on hands for the purpose of healing.
Who Can Learn It: Heart and Sword Clerics
What It is Supposed to Do: Heal all lingering injuries, raise HP, grant 1 favor.
What it Does: Uses your holy power to treat injuries far better than first aid.
Activation: Lay hands on (seated or prone target Player Character or yourself)
Usefulness (Low Levels): Life saving. I do not recall a failure under normal conditions (abnormal would be a God-free zone like certain arenas, trying to heal when not injured). Every attempt removed all listed injuries. HP restored is greater than an equal level First Aid and took 1 second less time. Multiple enemies may overwhelm healing speed.
Usefulness (Mid Levels): Increasing amounts of HP restored, able to heal to stay alive when facing multiple enemies.
Usefulness (High Levels): Extremely Beneficial. Once the time to use drops 1 second, the amount healed can often heal faster than you are damaged when facing multiple opponents.
How to Practice: Find a weak mob that can hit you (or possibly 2). Sit, equip that shield (practice 2 skills at once), lay hands on yourself. If spell casting is also being practiced, you might want to cast healing touch, vigor touch, then lay on hands (will update once Beta testing shows results).
Tips: Laying hands on another player character grants favor with your diety. It also saves lives. If you highlight the line of you falling down, triggering: QC, lay hands on <your name>, you might survive a hard hit.
Unconfirmed Rumors (May or May Not Be True): If you have an injury and no HP loss, this might fail.
Notes: Fun anecdote from the original DGate: I (Malthus) was ambushed by 3 mobs leaping from the shadows. The first hit hard, the 2nd knocked me down, triggering my laying on of hands. The 3rd then hit and I healed again. I checked after the battle. Those first 3 hits caused more damage than I had HP. I won that fight (and promptly left the area.)
