Design Team Overview: Shield Parry is a trained mitigation lane that binds to your active combat target after attack engagement. Incoming attacks from that target receive shield-parry checks and can be reduced or nearly stopped.
Notes:
Parry chance uses Shield Parry level, average AGI/DEX, and shield tier quality (0-14).
The model keeps a baseline floor near 10% for low-end setups.
Successful checks resolve into graded mitigation bands (heavy to light reduction), not only a binary full block.
Player Overview
Description: The ability to block or mitigate physical attacks using a shield.
Who Can Learn It: Everyone with a functional left arm.
What It is Supposed to Do: Reduce physical damage.
What it Does: If successful, an enemy attack will either be completely or partially blocked.
Activation: Have the skill, wear a shield (automatic).
Usefulness (Low Levels): Negligible. Do not count on the shield to work. Be happy when it is hit.
Usefulness (Mid-Levels): Positive. You will block more and more attacks, allowing for greater survivability and a reduction in armor damage.
Usefulness (High Levels): Extremely Beneficial. More and more attacks are blocked to the point you can face more dangerous and more numerous opponents.
How to Practice: All attacks have a percentage chance to be blocked, so face as many opponents as possible while not getting killed. 8 very low damage opponents that can hit you will be better than 1 high damage opponent.
Tips: Wear a shield whenever possible and socially acceptable (not to the formal dance). Perfect for when you are training first aid/channeling/spell casting. Does not mix well with practicing hiding/stealth (but won't hurt those skills).
Unconfirmed Rumors (May or May Not Be True): If your left arm is webbed, you can't use this skill. Confused people also can't use this skill.
